Hello! Welcome.

Custom Mosaic Art and Classes in Humboldt County.
Classes
After 35 years of public school teaching, I now pursue my dream of creating and instructing mosaic art at Parasol Arts in Old Town, Eureka. It brings me joy to see others discover the art of glass.
Since January 2012 I've been the Mosaic Artist in Residence at Parasol Arts in Old Town, Eureka. Every month I teach my Mosaic Madness 101 workshop. This two hour workshop is an introduction to beginning mosaics. During the class you'll learn the use of tools and adhesives. Then you'll be cutting both glass tiles and stained glass in order to design a 4" x 4" mosaic. At the end of the workshop I'll demonstrate how to grout, answer all questions and send you home feeling empowered, confident about grouting your newly created mosaic, and ready to start your next project.
You will be amazed at how quickly you can become a mosaic artist! Inspiration is everywhere during our class. I love to share my mosaic knowledge.
Class includes instruction, 4" coaster, stained glass, glass tile, glue, and grout. Children may attend with a parent and families are encouraged to learn and play together.
This class is offered once a month on a Friday evening from 6:30-8:30. Please contact Parasol Arts to register. My class schedule is always available on FaceBook or by emailing me. This class often sells out so be certain to reserve your spot!
After completion of the class you are welcome to come back to Parasol Arts at any time to use the tool kits for free.
During fall and winter months I often hold once a month, Sunday afternoon project/technique classes for students who have completed Mosaic 101.
Please keep up with Robin's Mosaics on Facebook.
Please join me by emailing me or call Parasol Arts at 707-268-8888 for information and to register.

Her Father gave her a forget-me-not saucer when he told her this sad news. The saucer had been her Mom's. She was broken hearted when it dropped but we created something new from it. Who is Robin Friedman?

Humboldt County has been my home since 1980. I began studying mosaics in 2005 with my mentor and friend Laurel Skye. Since that time, my life has changed in amazing ways. With my wonderful family lovingly encouraging me, along with retiring after 35 years of teaching young children - I have found a new world in which to express myself. Mosaic art has become my passion.
Since 2008 I have been a member of The Society of American Mosaic Artists. I am also a member of Contemporary Mosaics Artists, which featured my piece "Moon Dance" in an online slide show. I have the honor of having my three dimensional piece "Let the Party Begin" published in the gallery of Laurel Skye's amazing book Mosaic Renaissance which features major mosaic artists from around the world. In 2018 I was one of only 52 of 700 international mosaic artists chosen to be represented in the book, Creations: Contemporary Decorative Mosaic - Published by Jacqueline Isklander
In 2009, my interests expanded to include fused glass and fused dichroic glass jewelry. A new world of incredible color, texture, and design was suddenly opened to me. I love to create small works of art composed of many layers of dichroic glass. Each piece has incredible depth, amazing clarity, and magical colors.
I love to put my thoughts and emotions together with the rich colors and textures of glass art. The unique light and landscapes of Humboldt County are a large part of my artistic inspiration. My home studio looks out on a beautiful flower garden with redwoods, maples, and fruit trees full of singing birds to further inspire me.
In addition, I am strongly influenced by the textures of the various materials I like to work with including, millefori, gold tile, gems, minerals, vitreous, iridescent and mirrored glass among others. I have always been attracted to found objects and vintage jewelry that often find a place in my work. I find that incorporating a little bit of this and a little bit of that create joyful art.
When not playing in my studio with cut and fused glass I can be found in my flower garden enjoying the beautiful redwoods, and incredible birds around my home. I love the opportunity to create art and make the world a more beautiful place.

Robin is a master in creating beautiful mosaics! When my husband and I commissioned Robin to create a mosaic of Trinidad, we wanted the finished piece to capture the essence of this special place in California that holds so many memories for us. Trinidad Head is perfect and holds a place of honor in our house where, when the sunlight shines on it, certain pieces of glass sparkle as does the ocean on a sunny day.Trinidad Head
What to do with all the dishes that I inherited from my love ones? Ask Robin to make me a wall piece. It hang’s in my kitchen and every time I look at it it brings a smile to my face.Dish is Your Life
The minute I saw Soul Food, I began to bond with her. I felt movement in her form and power in her structure and subject matter. She is a woman conquering all the challenges that life puts before her and stands tall and proud in the process.Soul Food
